NICNAS Registration renewals due

Remember: 31 August is last day - late fees apply

All NICNAS Registrants must complete the 'Application for renewal / Non-renewal' (which this year - for the first time - incorporates the renewal tax invoice ) and return it with the appropriate Registration payment to NICNAS. All directions on the form need to be followed carefully in order to complete registration.

Previous registrants who do not intend to introduce chemicals during the 2006-07 registration year (which runs from 1 September 2006 to 31 August 2007) still need to complete Section 4 of the form and return it to NICNAS by the due date.

NICNAS farewells Director

New challenges for Margaret Hartley at Office of Chemical Safety

Thursday 24 August was NICNAS Director Dr Margaret Hartley's last day with the industrial chemicals regulator. Dr Hartley decided not to seek reappointment after completing her third term in the position at the end of May, but stayed on for an additional three month period while an executive search was conducted.

Dr Roshini Jayewardene (previously Leader, Regulatory Strategy and Reform at NICNAS) commenced a term as acting Director on Friday 25 August, and will continue in this role until the new Director commences.

After a short break, Dr Hartley will take up the full time position of Scientific Director at the Office of Chemical Safety, based in Canberra, from where she will be able to maintain strong links with NICNAS.
